How to Find a Therapist

Most of us need a good therapist at one point or another. Here are several ways to find one in your area.

This course might bring up some difficult feelings or memories about past sexual experiences. If this happens for you, it’s a good idea to seek out a therapist to talk through some of the feelings so you’re not left stuck with them. Here are several options for finding a therapist who is familiar with sexual concerns:

American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT)

AASECT is a national organization that provides education and certification to sex therapists. They maintain a directory of AASECT-certified sex therapists on their website at: https://www.aasect.org/referral-directory

Your Insurance Company

If you have insurance and know that you want to use it, you can call your insurance company or look at their online directory of providers to find a therapist in your network. You should be able to specify that the provider have experience with sexuality or sexual concerns.
